I don't think there is anything cuter than a baby learning how to walk... Lilly is so pleased with herself. She is definetly getting this walking thing down. I am sure she will soon be running. I wish it were possible to press pause and and enjoys these moments longer!

Lilly loves her Daddy!

Lilly celebrated her 1st birthday in Utah! I can't believe she is allready 1! We had a big birthday party for her at Grandpa and Grandma Olson's house. It was so fun to see all of my family. How I miss being around them. Lilly is going through a little stage right now where she is scared of most people. Since she isn't all that familar with most of my extended family, we were hard pressed to get on smile, even at her own birthday party! Here she is by her cake in much distress! Hopefully she will pass through this little phase soon. The bagger at the grocery store can't even look at her without bringing her to tears!

We had such a great summer, unfortunately the summer doesn't ever seem to end here in Arizona. It is forcasted to be 110 the next few days!! The boys started school a few weeks ago and are doing really well. I can't believe how much they are all growing up. Lilly is going to be 1 year old next week and I don't know where the year has gone!

Memorial Day Weekend at The Cabin

We went to the cabin over Memorial Day weekend. It was quite a trip. On the way up there, the alternator went out and we spent 4.5 hours at McDonalds before Micah and Nic were able to get an new one to us. We then spent an hour in the pouring rain installing the alternator and did not make it to the cabin until 12:30 in the morning. As you can see from the pictures below, it was muddy...of course, the kids thought the mud was great and had fun driving through it on the quads. We were just happy Derek didn't drive another quad into the pond.

Its been a while since we last posted anything. Lilly had her baby blessing a few weeks ago. It was fun to have everyone down for the blessing. Grandma Rolfe made the dress.

Jacob had his 9th birthday on December 13th. After a day of bowling, the boys continued the party in the backyard. It was pretty wild. We were glad to have nice weather and a big backyard for the party.

We are finally enjoying the time of the year that makes it understandable why so many people live in Arizona. The weather has been absolutely heavenly! Our boys have actually become quite the wimps, they freeze when they go to school in the morning. ( It is usually a chilly 50 degrees) We went on hike at San Tan State Park on Veteran's Day. The boys had a fun time trying to look for lizards,finding sticks and rocks, and destroying old dead cacti. Gavin thought one of the living Cacti, a jumping jack variety, looked fun so he picked it up. Instinctivly, he tried to use the other hand remove the cactus and then had both hands stuck together as he screamed in pain. Needless to say, he quickly learned all about cactus. We freed his hands pretty quickly, but I'm sure he will think twice before he picks up another one!

Lilly is growing more everyday. She has been such a wonderful additon to our family. I sometimes become quite "giddy" just looking at her. I just can't believe we actually have a daughter. I am having so much fun dressing her up in dresses, bows and braclets. The boys and Jordan are just as taken by her as me. She definetely has us all wrapped around her little finger. We are excited to be going to Utah next week for Thanksgiving. We finally get to show off Lilly to much of my family. We will be blessing her on December 7, so if anyone wants to take a break from the cold, we would love to have you come down.

I love my boys but thought she deserved a post of her own (I realize that I am partial but I think she is pretty cute! Of course, she has me wrapped around her little finger...kinda of like her mother ). Lilly is doing great. She has started to gain weight and seems to be adjusting to the constant circus at our house. The boys and I are always fighting to hold her and Jamie pinches herself every now and then to make sure this isn't a dream and she really does have a girl.

I think Gavin had a better time handing out candy than he did trick-or-treating.

After trick-or-treating, the boys had their friends over for a "late night" to watch Star Wars. They thought they were pretty cool...being able to stay up until 10:30:) We had a great time here. The tempature was about 75. We chipped in with several of the neighbors and rented some large bounce houses. The city provided us with blockades to block off the street and we set up tables and had a big dinner and entertainment for the kids before the trick-or-treating began.

We are going on 3 or 4 years of pirates for halloween (it makes things easy). Lilly was a butterfly (for about 5 minutes).

The boys had a good time carving pumpkins. We are happy to note that no fingers were lost and nobody cut anyone else.

It has been a couple of weeks since the last post. Here a few pictures taken while Jordan's parents were in town. We also have some pictures of the ward trunk-or-treat and of Jordan and the boys planting some trees in the back yard.

It finally seems like Fall here in Arizona! We were able to enjoy Jacob and Derek's soccer games on Saturday without having to use sun screen and the shade umbrella. I have also been able to go an walks each day with Gavin and Lilly. Gavin is learning to ride his bike and loves to speed up and down the hills at the parks (so far without major incident). In fact, this weekend has actually been a little cold. As you can see from the pictures, Jacob and Derek huddled under their towels while Gavin seemed to enjoy the cold water in the swimming pool.

This week is fall break for Jacob and Derek. They are excited not to have to get up and go to school. We are also excited to have grandma and grandpa Rolfe coming down to see us (really Lilly:). Of course, having the boys home all day means lots of refereeing for me. Keeping them busy is not always the easiest thing to do.

Busy Week

This past week was a busy one. The boys and I spent Saturday "scalping" the lawn to prepare it for the winter grass seed. We turned the water off a couple of weeks ago so that the summer grass would go dormant (that is why it looks dead). As you can see, the boys spent a significant portion of the time digging on the side of the house.
Gavin started preschool this week at the Gunson's house. He was excited to be able to wear his backpack and declare that he goes to school like his brothers. He called me after school and reported that school was exciting (he enjoyed the puzzles).

Lilly is getting bigger each day. This week she has been much more alert. She is never content to sit still....with the exception of when she is eating or sleeping (much like the boys). Gavin is having trouble understanding exactly where he fits. He wants to be a "big boy" but he is having a hard time sharing the spotlight with Lilly. Although he loves her and wants to give her hugs and kisses, he is rough with her and is often tempted to push the envelope. On the other hand, Jacob and Derek are great helpers when they want to be.

Between work, church, the baby, and the boys soccer our evenings are pretty hectic. I don't know how Jamie manages to juggle our schedules and the many other tasks that have to be done each day. There is no question who has the more difficult job.

Its only been a little more than three weeks since Lilly arrived. However, she has definitely had a major impact on our lives. It seems as though we forgot how hard it is to get anything done with a new baby in the house. Jacob is great to try and help. Derek also helps...in his own way:) and Gavin tries to hug and kiss her while at the same time he seems tempted to drop her on the floor. Although he loves her, he is jealous of the attention she is getting. Lilly is such a great addition to our family, we feel truly blessed to have her.

Lilly Christine Rolfe was born Spetember 3, 2008 at 12:01 pm in Gilbert, Arizona. She weighed in at 7lbs 3 oz. and is 20.5 inches long (and hopefully she behaves a little better than her three brothers). We are happy to have her here and feel blessed that both she and Jamie are healthy and doing well.
